Induce the Viewer to Take a Closer Look

The beauty of a landscape is based on the lushness and color. By painting a landscape in black on a white background, paradoxically, makes it possible to focus on the structure of the landscape that most people normally don’t see. The black interrupts the transitions in the landscape and reorders space. By painting a landscape in black I have taken it away from its usual perception by changing the visual form. This also occurs when you place one of my black landscape paintings on the wall. At best, in the hands of a good decorator it creates an interaction, a counterbalance to the decorative nature of the room.
